How to Create a Dance

Aug 4, 2009 09:47 PM

Create your own dance, by listening to the music, and allowing your body to flow, move and bend as it feels it should

Select a song that has a reasonable beat that is comfortable for dancing. It also helps if it's a favorite.

Pick some favorite dance moves . For inspiration, try watching music videos on YouTube or on MTV.

Put the moves together in a fashion that flows. Listen to the music, and allow the body to move freely with it. Do not think about what the movements should be, just move with the music.

Close your eyes and feel the music with the body and try to remember the movements made.

Practice in front of a mirror once you start to feel the music to see how it looks.

Tips

  • Be careful with moves so you don't hurt yourself. You know your limit. If you can't land a double back flip effortlessly, don't push your luck and try it.
  • Start the routine off slow, without music and then with music. Gradually get faster and more in time with the beat.
  • Stretch before starting to dance to loosen your muscles and avoid injury.

Warnings

  • Don't make yourself look like an idiot. People will point and laugh.
  • If you think it looks stupid, chances are most people will too.

Things You'll Need

  • CD Player, DVD player or other audio system to play music.
